Welcome to Open Healthcare Pricing

Open Health Prices is an open initiative committed to enhancing healthcare price transparency. It utilizes open-source software and advanced AI technologies to gather and standardize pricing information from thousands of hospitals and medical facilities across the United States.

The data collected by Open Health Prices benefits not only researchers and companies but also empowers ordinary citizens by facilitating informed healthcare decisions. It provides a valuable resource for analyzing healthcare pricing. This open access promotes innovation and enhances transparency in healthcare pricing.

Our Approach

The Centers for Medicare & Medicare services requires all hospitals to post their price lists publicly. Unfortunately, although they are making improvements, there is not a standard way to find the price transparency data or a standard file format.

We are leveraging AI to build a fully automated process for finding and normalizing hospital price transparency data. Currently, organizations, researchers, and individuals aiming to study hospital pricing data face the initial hurdle of navigating complex and fragmented healthcare price data. Automating this collection and opening the data has many benefits including frequent updates and more cost effective research.

Our Plan

Our first phase is to collect the raw data from the hospitals. We are using advanced AI technologies to find the pricing information.

With the raw data collected, we are now working on normalizing the data. For our initial pass, we are focusing on CPT codes & cash discount prices.
We are always looking for feedback and ways to improve our data.
